Sauvignon Blanc, Le Garenne
grapefruit • flinty • crisp
This is Sancerre doing exactly what it’s famous for: being sharp, mineral, and wildly refreshing. Bright grapefruit and lemon peel lead the way, followed by crushed stone, wet chalk, and that mouthwatering snap that makes you immediately want food. Bone-dry, high-acid, and gone faster than you planned—this is Sauvignon Blanc with purpose.
Sancerre sits on the eastern edge of the Loire Valley, where limestone and silex soils push Sauvignon Blanc away from tropical excess and toward tension and clarity. While the appellation does allow oak aging, most classic producers choose not to use it—because freshness, minerality, and line are the whole point.
Le Garenne leans firmly into that traditional camp. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this wine skips texture tricks and oak gloss in favor of precision. What you get is pure place: citrus, stone, and energy, with a finish that snaps shut and politely asks for another sip.
Fun fact: Sancerre’s trademark ‘flinty’ character comes from silex-rich soils that can literally spark when struck, giving the wines that unmistakable stony, electric edge.
