Pinot Blanc, Selbach-Oster
Pinot Blanc in Mosel clothes is all about elegance. Think crisp pear and golden apple upfront, backed by a hint of white peach and a whisper of almond. The palate is sleek and refreshing, with a mineral core that feels like licking a wet slate (in the best possible way). The finish is clean, lightly floral, and just a touch creamy — restrained but charming.
2022 was a warm year in Germany, which gave this Pinot Blanc a little more ripeness than usual without tipping into heaviness. The extra sunshine plumped up the fruit while the cool Mosel nights preserved that razor-bright acidity, so you get balance and verve.
Fermented and aged in stainless steel to highlight freshness, with a short rest on the lees for roundness. The Selbach family isn’t about flashy winemaking here — just letting the fruit and terroir show their best self.
Selbach-Oster is one of the iconic names of the Mosel, known for generations of Riesling mastery. But this Pinot Blanc shows their versatility: still precise, still mineral-driven, still unmistakably Mosel, just with a softer, more orchard-fruited accent.
Pinot Blanc is the quiet sibling of the Pinot family — less moody than Pinot Noir, less aromatic than Pinot Gris. In Germany it’s called Weissburgunder, and while it’s often overshadowed by Riesling, it thrives in cool regions where it can keep its delicate balance of fruit and acidity.
