Chardonnay Reserve, Ponzi
Fresh Sicilian lemon, white peach, and apricot leap from the glass, with subtle notes of white tea, wet slate, and a touch of smoky matchstick. Creamy on the palate, yet clean and focused, with a lingering finish. 2021 brought a balance of ripeness and freshness in the Laurelwood District, producing fruit of exceptional clarity and tension.
Sourced from Estate Laurelwood District AVA vineyards with basalt-derived loess soils. barrel-fermented and aged in French oak [mix of new and neutral] to integrate texture while preserving bright acidity.
Founded by Dick and Nancy Ponzi in 1970, the family helped establish the Willamette Valley AVA. today, Luisa Ponzi carries on the tradition, crafting wines that highlight site and soil specificity.
Formerly part of the Chehalem Mountains AVA, the Laurelwood District was officially recognized as an AVA in 2020, and Ponzi's reserve bottling is a benchmark Chardonnay of the region, but it was their 2007 Arneis that was proudly served at an inaugural event for President Obama.
