Chardonnay, Meurgey‑Croses 'Uchizy'
This is Chardonnay for people who think they don’t like Chardonnay: fresh, mineral, impeccably balanced to pair perfectly with grilled trout, goat cheese tart, or just the patio at sunset. Imagine pouring fresh spring into a glass: floral perfume, green apple, ripe pear, a pinch of peach, and a breeze of chalky limestone. There’s a little twist of fennel or grapefruit pith that keeps things cheeky and bright, all wrapped in a silky, stony finish that won’t quit. Stellar balance between fruit and finesse—so easy to like, hard to put down.
2023 was sun-drenched but the wine didn’t get lazy—it stayed fresh. Pierre Meurgey describes it as 'ripeness and preserved freshness,' not lean, but balanced: ripe 'happy fruit' that hasn’t lost its nerve. Serious vibe—rounded, but elastic.
How did it get so charming? The vinification/aging process is all about purity. Fermented and aged only in tanks, preserving freshness and capturing terroir, it goes through full malolactic fermentation to ensure it's softness and roundness. About 12.6 – 13% ABV, and bottled in the spring for extra brightness. Minimal intervention, maximum finesse.
Pierre Meurgey is fourth-generation Burgundy land—wine-trader-turned-micro-négociant, with roots in both Beaune and Mâcon. His family’s wine story traces back to great-grandfather Joseph-Ernest Meurgey-Perron, who started a trading house in Beaune at the end of the 19th century.
