Brut '61, Berlucchi
90% Chardonnay/10% Pinot Nero
Brut '61 is a tribute to the birth of Franciacorta in 1961—the year Berlucchi produced the first of this classic method sparkling wine. This fun and lively sparkler offers citrus fruit and a crisp, clean finish.
Straw-yellow in color with greenish highlights. Crisp, rich and elegant bouquet, fairly lengthy, with apple and pear fruit and a pleasing citrus hint in the finish. The palate displays exceptional freshness and zesty acidity with a velvet texture and fine balance, concluding with appealing notes of citrus.
After gentle, gradual pressing of clusters with fractioning of the must, the juice is then fermented in steel vats like the Cuvee Imperiale Brut. The cuvee is assembled in the spring following harvest and undergoes a second fermentation in the bottles, maturation of 24 months on lees, 6 months longer than the Imperiale, followed by additional 2 months after disgorgement.
