Syrah, Klinker Brick 'Farrah'
Originating from their estate in the Mokelumne River AVA, the Farrah Syrah vineyard was made famous with the very first 90+ rated wine out of Lodi. Sustainably farmed and hand-picked, the vineyard is named after the 6th generation owner of Klinker Brick Winery. This wine is 100% estate fruit, 100% Syrah, with 100% French oak ageing (15 months), and 40% barrel fermentation, both of which bring a spice and texture that cannot be replicated with american oak.
Huge diurnal shifts in summer temperatures allowed the winemaker to retain acidity, providing notes of bright blue toned fruit.[Diurnal shift is the difference between the average daytime high temperature and the average nighttime low temperature. Large diurnal shift allows grapes to maintain higher acidity. As wine drinkers, we care about diurnal shift because it leads to higher quality wines with more balance.]
Ruby red in color, the wine gives aromas of Herbs de Provence, black raspberry and toasty vanilla. The pallet bursts with ripe cherry, dark plum, and a hint of bacon fat. True to the Klinker Brick style, the wine is balanced with juicy acidity and a fine tannin structure.
