Rosé of Sangiovese, la Spinetta
50% Sangiovese, 50% Prugnolo Gentile
Inspired by Provencal Rosés, the Rivetti decided to produce one rosé from their portfolio. The fascinating characteristics of Sangiovese and Prugnolo Gentile, permitted them to create a wine that shows great character, an intense aroma, and which is very pleasant to drink. It has a floral and fruity bouquet with hints of citrus and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it is wonderfully fresh and delicate with satisfying minerality and an all-embracing acidity.
Occasionally referred to as Sangiovese Grosso, the Prugnolo Gentile is a grape variety that is used in the town of Montepulciano, Tuscany, for the production of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG and Rosso di Montepulciano DOC. This grape is a clone of the Sangiovese grape, has similar characteristics to it, and is believed to be native to this area..
The grapes are destemmed and soft pressed, without overstressing the berries. The must remains in brief contact with the skins in order to obtain an extremely balanced free-run juice. Alcoholic fermentation lasts for about 10 days, followed by aging in stainless steel tanks on its lees for about 3 months.
