Gamay, Yann Bertrand 'Iron'
Morgon ‘Iron’ is a small négoce project from a a parcel with iron and manganese-rich soils in the heart of Villié - Morgon. Well-structured wine but with a lot of finesse and digestibility, it refines over time to become deeper and deeper.
Aged in old 225L and 300L barrels for 7 months. ‘A very Morgony Morgon’ as Yann put it [‘Un morgon qui morgonne.’]
Carbonic maceration done cold without pumping over or pumping. Without sulfur or yeast for 12 days. 40% in 225-litre barrels and 60% in 300-litre barrels for 7 months. Old barrel of minimum 6 wines. Racking, then bottling without filtration and without sulfur depending on the moon.
